If you read James Clear’s newsletters, you would know at the end he asks a question.
I have read most of his newsletters and the questions asked in those are also insightful. Trying to answer them sometimes unlocks a new way of seeing life.
From 100s of questions, here are the top 3 questions that I think hold the power to change your life:
If someone took control of your life tomorrow, what’s the first thing they would change?
As we are so entrenched in our life that sometimes it takes an outsider to see our problems and recommend solutions. A person can provide us with a perspective that is objective in nature.
Keeping that in mind, if we answer the above question truly, we can know what we need to change in our life immediately to improve it.
This can also be regarded as reverse psychology. We don’t know what to change so we ask the question indirectly to ourselves here.
I am sure we can think of various things that we need to change, like forming new habits, leaving the bad ones that aren’t serving us right now, etc.
Whatever aspect or thing that emerges first in your mind is the thing that you need to focus on currently.
What is something wonderful about your life that you rarely appreciate as much as you should?
This will teach us the critical habit of gratitude.
We spend our days complaining about what we don’t have that we get blind to what we already possess.
Seeing and being thankful for what we have is a wonderful way to attain that peaceful state of being that will propel you to get more. You will not be in a hurry to get things and then get frustrated when you don’t.
If you are happy with what you have, only then the universe will deem you worthy of more.
Keeping a gratitude journal is also a great practice. When we feel sad, we can take a peek through the pages and see how lucky we are.
Appreciate what you have and be ready to receive more.
If you know what you want, why are you waiting?
Most people don’t know what they want.
If you are indeed one of the lucky few who have figured out what they want, then what are you waiting for?
Take action, and go all in.
Playing the waiting game is a never-ending ordeal. You will never be able to move if you wait for perfect conditions, which seldom exist.
You will feel fear, but a skilled sailor is ever created on smooth seas.
So take the plunge, and handle the rough seas.
You will see that you are stronger than you think once you handle the challenges on your way.
Stop waiting, start executing.
I write daily here on my blog. There is no limit to the word count. I am not focusing on any topic here. I want to build a daily writing habit. This is Day 66 of the Daily Writing Challenge in 2022.
